‘Subtotals’ to vie at IDFA Amsterdam

Iranian documentary ‘Subtotals’ is scheduled to be screened at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) in the Netherlands.

Directed by Mohammadreza Farzad, the Iran, Poland, Germany joint production will represent the country at the Best of Fests section of the 2022 edition of the event.

The doc is a poetic essay meticulously constructed from clips of Iranian 8mm home videos from bygone days.

The IDFA Award for Best Short Documentary was presented to Pavel Mozhar’s ‘Handbook’, a co-production from Germany and Belarus.

The other titles that represented Iran at this edition of the IDFA were ‘I Am Trying to Remember’ by Pegah Ahangarani and ‘Tonight’s Homework’ by Ashkan Nejati.

The 2022 edition of the festival is slated for November 9 – 20.
